Coat of Arms of the Empire of Rum by TiltschMaster Coat of Arms of the Empire of Rum by TiltschMaster
Coat of arms adopted for the Ottoman Empire in a timeline, where Mehmed II. "the Conqueror" was not poisoned and managed to conquer Rome in 1487. His title "Kayser-i Rum", wich he already bestowed upon himself after the fall of Constantinople, was at this point recognized by European powers and the Ottoman Empire became the offical succsessor to the Roman Empire and the Sultan became the official succsessor of the Roman Ceasars.

Empire of Rum? First thought - Seljuk Empire succedeed and claimed both Rome and Constantinople.
But well, Ottoman Empire was basically a successor state of it.

Would be nice if muslim states used more imagery, much like Persian Empire. It's mostly just boring writings in arabic, crescent moon due to Turkish influence and rarely something original, like modern Misr/"Egypt".

Mehmed thee Conquerer in our world realy called himself "Emperor of Rum", and yes, you're right, more Arabic heraldry would be realy nice :) The CoA the Ottoman's created in the 18th century wasn't all that great either :D

Saugeil gemacht!

Well, unlike many other great powers at that time, the Ottomans actualy respected the cultures they conquered (at least in this stage of the Empire). Istanbul was a flourshing mulit-cultural metropole and I think that an Ottoman Rome would have been a much better place then a Papal one ...

But I understand why opinion are very diverse when it comes to that topic :D
