The situation in the Korean Peninsula is realy worrying me right now. China's latest diplomatic statements are basicaly a nicely packaged "we are dropping your ass". Right now, Wu Dawei, China's special representative for the Korean Peninsula, is staying for a five-day trip in South Korea, instead of the North. At the same time, the Chinese state-run Global Times is threatening the DPRK with harsh economic sanctions in case of further escalation on their part, including the cutting of vital oil shipments to country suffering heavily from international sanctions and frequent power shortages.
They are not doing this, because they want the DPRK to go down in war with the US, but rather because they fear US troops marching north twoards theYalu River, the Chinese-Korean border region, but it realy doesn#t matter for the effect this has: Right now, the DPRK is a country with literaly nothing to lose anymore.
And people who have nothing to lose tend to lash out and not care for what comes after.
The Superpowers are playing a terribly dangerous game in this region right now and it could end up with several South-East Asian countries - and possibly the US West Coast - turning into nuclear hell holes.
And if you think this is paranoid, then watch again what ammounts of explosives the US Air Fore just dropped on a mountain in Afghanistan. That wasn#t for the purpose of killing 19 dudes in caves, that thing was a message. And it was directed at the DPRK among others.
This is deeply concerning. The US might have pushed the DPRK too far this time. And this might end up ugly for a lot of people.
