In 1914, Bosnian-Serb independence fighters instigated an attack on the Austrian Parliament in Vienna, killing three dozen of politicians and Archduke Franz Ferdinand. 

In the years before, the Balkan States had fought themself free to a certain degree from Ottoman rule. During this process, Austria had annexed Bosnia-Herzegowina.

The Austrians declared war on Serbia, claiming it responsible. France and the Ottoman Empire sided with Austria, as did most of the German states, Italy and the Netherlands. 

Serbia had Great Britain, Prussia, Hannover, Saxony, Russia, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece and the Kingdom of Naples on it's side. 

After four bloody yers of trentch war, the Entente of France and Austria were vidtorious, but Austria fell appart shortly afterwards. The Russian EMpire had transformed into the Soviet Union, but lost Bessarabia and the Baltic states. The Ottoman Empire also lost it's controll over North Africa, now de facto in French Hands, and parts of Arabia. Israel was also carved out of the Empire, but what it is in OTL Gaza and West Bank stay with the Turks. The Near East conflict of OTL is therefore non existend in this timeline, there is only a constantly bad relationship between Saudia Arabia and the Turks however.

In 1922, the Empire fell into civil war. The republican insurgents fighting against the pro Sultan forces were lead by Mustafa Kemal. With support from France, the republicans overthrew the Sultanate and created a Consulate with Kemal, by now called "Attatürk" - father of the turks - as "Consule of Constantiople".

On and administrative dimenson it took the path of Italy, carving out several autonomous republics to prevent ethnic tensions and and civil tensions.

In Euorpe, the Republic of Poland was carved out of Prussian and Austrian territory. The Baltic states became the Federation of Livonia, an independent Consule-Republic.
The Holy Roman Empire was transformed into the German Federation, a consuleate after the Italian modell, excluding Prussia.

German Austria became part of the German Federation, the balkan possesions of the Ottomans and Austrians became the Kingdom of Bulgaria, the Kingdom of Grater Romania and the Republic of Yugoslavia. Czechoslovakia became a federative Consule-Republic.
The British had lost the whole of Ireland to a revolution of Irish Nationals, supported by France. Sweden annexed unstable Finland from Russia and became the United Kingdom of Sweden and Finland.

Hungary became an independent nation with a Habsburg monarch as it's head but de facto ruled by a the "Regent".

In Prussia, there were communist insurgences in the time after World War I. tried to topple the Prussian monarchy. A short state of Civil War broke out, during wich nationalist "Freecorps" hutned down and killed communist leaders, among them Rosa Luxemburg. Although the communists were stopped, the monarchy had to agree to reforms. The country was turned into a parliamentary monarchy a week after the end of the crisis.
